Hello everyone out there in blog land. I know I have been so hit and miss lately. Sorry about that. My life has been crazier than expected and I have had no mojo lately. I am hoping that it is slowly coming back to me!

On a happy note I have been working on a kit that I am really proud of. It is full of elements for something that I love doing - GARDENING! I really missed getting my hands dirty while we lived in Australia, but our landlord would not allow a veggie patch and the bushes didn't need much work. I have been dying to get my hands dirty again and a new house has let me do that! We just dug out a ton of sod and got mulch to prepare a garden to plant in the spring. I am more than thrilled!

ANNOUNCING MY NEW CT!

I am thrilled to announce my new CT. These are wonderful ladies with so much talent. I am so excited to get to know them better and to work with them!
So we can all get to know them better here is a little bit about them and a sample of their work!

Betty has been digital scrapping for two years and paper scrapping for over 10 years. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two daughters. Betty loves photography, traveling, cooking, swimming and spending time with her friends and family. When she is not working, she likes to plan her families next vacation and also scrapbook her previous vacation photos! Betty and her husband are taking their kids to Disneyland for the first time in two weeks. One thing Betty cannot live without is her laptop. Her favorite saying is "life is what you make it, so try your best to make it great!"

Casey:

I am 29 years old, live with my husband of three years and our eleven month old little girl. God has truly blessed us with love and happiness. My husband and I made the decision that I would be a stay at home mom when we found out we were having Ella. I came out of work and went on the search for something to do that would let me use my computer skills, be creative, and meet people that share my hobbies online. Digital scrapbooking was my answer. I love the creativity it allows, the online community is great (regardless of the portal), and the memories I am preserving will always be treasured by my family. Other than scrapping I love to travel, take photos, read, and most of all spend time with my family.

My name is Emilee. I'm a SAHM of three great kiddos ages 7-2. I have been digi-scrapping for four years and LOVE IT! I also enjoy reading, crocheting and crafting in general although I prefer crafts where Ctrl-Z is always on option.

My life is a bit out of control right now. We are getting settled in the States, but there is still so much we have to do. Get out kids caught up on an almost missed grade in school due to the different schedules Australia and the States are on. That seems to take up most of my afternoons with extra homework and so much more. Then there is the search for a house. I can't wait to get all settled into my own place and feel like I can relax and just enjoy everything.

If you were missing DRS don't worry, they are finally reopening their doors!!! After a nightmare month they are finally done with the shifting of hosts process and ready for action. They should be opened soon.

Anyway, even with all the craziness I was so happy when Sarah asked me to do another collab with her. This is my last kit as a guest at SM. It was fun to be there.

I am a blog slacker. I meant to come and post some more things during the week, but school holidays and potty training are keeping me busy.

I do have a new kit in the shop today. It came about because a friend of mine asked me to help her make a cover for a Young Women binder they were making for New Beginnings. They wanted a nice page to put a picture of each girl and inside the binder they can keep track of all their personal progress goals and other activities for Young Women's. In making a cover page I ended up creating an entire kit. Although this kit is geared towards the Young Women's program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints you can also use it for many other LOs. It's sneak peak Tuesday again!!! I am getting excited to show you my first new product of 2010. I still can't believe we are in 2010 - time sure flies. I have made a new years resolution to live in the moment. I want to appreciate all the little things that are in my life and to realize the ways I am blessed each and everyday. Not sure exactly how I am going to go about doing this - I think it is a mind-set I need to just change little by little. Any suggestions would be great!!!

I'm Back!!!

My family and I just spent a week at the beach three hours south of us. We went to Jervis Bay and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! The whitest sand in the world is there and the water is such an amazing color. I am rested and trying to get back to "normal." The kids are on summer holidays until the end of January so we will have to come up with some fun activities. I also decided that the 2 year old needs to be potty trained. I hate this part of motherhood. Hope she catches on quickly and we don't have to many accidents.

I am so excited about having my first CT. I can't believe that I have come this far. I have an exciting group of ladies and I look forward to seeing more of their amazing work. Here is a little bit more about them and a sample of their work:

Betty: Betty’s favorite thing to do is make tacos for her family, then sit down with some TV trays and watch a movie in front of a warm fire on a cold evening. Betty enjoys the beach, shopping, swimming, hiking, friends, family, digital scrapbooking and spending time browsing scrapbook forums. Betty has worked on a paper scrapbooking design team for seven years, managed a scrapbook store and taught many scrapbooking classes. Betty, who was just recently married, lives in Sacramento, California in the United States with her husband and their two school aged daughters. Betty believes that life is what you make it and that you should never stop searching for opportunities to improve yourself and the quality of your life!

That was this past March and I haven't looked back. I don't think I have a style as of yet. I start with a photo and pick out a kit and get inspiration from these and create my layouts. I love to look at other's creations be it layouts or designer's kits. I am amazed at what others can do and I hope to learn more as I keep digiscrapping my little heart out...and all my spending money away.

I can hardly believe that this is my third Christmas in Australia. Coming from a true winter Christmas where it is cold and sometimes snowy on Christmas it has been an adjustment to a summer Christmas. I am so blessed to have lived in Australia for the past 2 1/2 years. One thing that Aussies are so good at is preserving their "green space." They are so good at putting in parks in neighborhoods, leaving trees as they are to grown big and strong, and having bush areas right down the street for you to walk through and enjoy the outdoors. I am so impressed by that. So inspired by that I have made a simple cardstock paper pack out of the colors of the outdoors. These are the colors that remind me most of the Wasatch Mountains back home and now the bush in Australia. So grab them while they are free!

Can you believe that it is already the first week of November? Me either!! Where has the time gone? In case you missed it - Digital Scrapbook Day is upon us - LOL! How could you miss that? I have two new items in my shop today. A new alpha and some borders to help add that extra spice to your LOs.

While in elementary I had a teacher who would give out gold stars for exceptional work. The gold star is always associated with a job well done. Although this alpha isn't exactly a star it reminded me of this teacher. For all those jobs well done or for a little extra glitter this alpha would be perfect for any layout! get it here

Beautiful Borders are so easy to use. Clip paper to them, add glitter or acrylic styles, blend them into the background, or create your own elements. They are so versatile and fun. They will help to add that little extra to your layout. Each is 12" long and created in 300 dpi. Enjoy! get them here

BLESSING PROJECT

At the first of the year I started my blessing project. I was inspired by my friend Brittney of Britt-ish Designs as she did it the year before. I haven't posted all of my LO here. I always seem to forget. They are all on my FB page though. I just thought I would share the ones I did today. I am behind due to having so many visitors this year so I try to do two a week sometimes until I get caught up.

First up is my blessing to be a designer selling her stuff - seriously can't believe that it has truly happened to me. I used my Fairy World kit avaliable here

Then I used a beautiful kit from a fellow Digiridoo Scraps designer LDrag Designs called Butterfly's Whisper.

One WICKED night

I have two products new in my shop today - I am going to try really hard and release all my goodies on Tuesday. I am a scheduler and need to have things planned out in order to get them done. I LOVE Halloween! I am not sure what it is about that holiday that gets me excited. I think it has something to do with the ability to be whatever you want for one night, or maybe a little something about the candy. I do love Halloween, but I don’t like scary Halloween. I can't believe that I am saying this, but I am a full fledged designer. I have a place to sell my designs! I am so excited to be selling at Digiridoo Scraps. I have made my first full kit and I am super happy about it.

I made this kit for my two girls. With wonder and imagination fairies are alive in our home. We see them at the grocery story, inside our home, and in the trees outside. I love September because it means football season starts!!! I love American football - or grid iron as they call it in Australia. I especially love Brigham Young University football. I am writing this to you from sunny Sydney, Australia. I have been blessed to call this place my home for almost two years now. Although I am a Utah girl at heart, I have learned to love this place and it's uniqueness and climate. My idea of paradise has changed in the past few years as I have lived in a place so close to the sea. I love the mountains and all that they have to offer, but I have learned to appreciate the beach and all that it has to offer as well. Therefore, my idea of paradise is two fold. I will always think of the mountains as a special place, so many of my fondest memories have taken place by a lake, during a hike to a waterfall, or around a campfire. There is nothing like driving up a canyon when the leaves are changing colors, with the leaves swirling down from the sky and the smell that is like none other. There is nothing like a good conversation around a camp fire with the popping and hissing sounds as the heat breaks down the wood. However, there is nothing like sunset on the beach. The sounds of the waves, the taste of salt in the air, and the soothing beauty of the sky. Therefore these two places are paradise to me.

SPEED SCRAP ADDICTION?!

If you have a speed scrap addiction like I do head over to ScrapMatters this weekend. For

[i]National Scrapbook Day they have more than you can imagine. Your addiction, and mine, will be fed for sure. If you have never done a speedscrap now is the time to try it. They are so much fun. You get a new instruction every 10 minutes for the first hour and then and additional hour and 15 minutes to finish. Seriously makes you scrap outside the box and the rush is all natural. Here is the schedule. I am so excited because my friend Kate is doing one for the evening for us in Australia and New Zealand. I always have to do the speedscraps during the day with kids running around - a night time one will be awesome!!! There is much more than just speedscraps going on as well. Games and other challenges are all planned as well. It will be such a fun weekend. Hope to see you there!

National Scrapbook Day is on May 2nd - but over at ScrapMatters they are making it an International Scrapbook weekend!!! How cool is that? They will have so many challenges, prizes, and you can definitely get your fill of speed scraps. You can get this amazing collab kit with a $15 purchase in the shop.

Also the new Queen of Scraps Contest will start. The reigning Queen will be handing over her crown and we will have a new Queen. How fun is that. Look in the SM forum for more details to be revealed on May 1st. This collab kit is one of the participation prizes. Amazingly bright colors huh?!

Happy Scrap Girl has a new personal use product in the store today cardstock basics - the spring line. When I was a paper scrapper I used card stock all of the time. Here are some pretty colors all in one place.

Well I didn't move on to round 4 at ScrapMatters Design Star competition, but that's okay. I learned a lot and did really well for someone who hasn't designed much before. I will definately keep at it because I enjoyed it so much. I know that with practice comes better outcomes so look for some freebies coming your way.

DESIGN STAR ROUND THREE

I have been so busy this week doing elements for the Design Star contest. I love the final product and learned so much. We find out in a few days who made the cut. Until then I will try not to stress and wonder too much.

We had to make a matching element pack for our paper pack we made last week. Here is what I came up with.

DESIGN STAR ROUND TWO

Here is my submission for round two of the Design Star competition over at ScrapMatters. I am still in shock that I made it this far. I feel that I did my very best and stretched myself so I am very pleased with my final product. We were asked to make a cohesive paper pack with any color combo we wanted and any patterns. It is all about the textures. You should have seen me this week. I made the kids walk to school one day - this is torture didn't you know because it takes us so long to get there...I digress. I made them walk just so I could walk back home and take pictures of different textures. I am sure the other moms out there walking were wondering what I was doing - baby in the stroller patiently waiting while I am taking pictures of the cracks in the sidewalk, the fence posts, the bark on the bum trees. That's okay I got some amazing textures now in my file. I also really liked this color combo and realized at the end that it reminded me of the ocean we saw in New Zealand a few weeks back on holiday.

SAD NEWS AND GOOD NEWS - all on the same day

First the sad news. One of my favorite designers is retiring. I have had the opportunity to be on her CT for the past six months or so and have been honored to get to know her as a person as well. I respect her decision to retire - we all have to make hard decisions sometimes - and I will miss her designs terribly. However, lucky for us we can get them all for a discount until the end of the month!!! So head over to ScrapMatters and check out her store. If you read the previous post you can see a bunch of her goodies that I have used....they are fabulous! I need to get a few things that I have been meaning to download myself.

Now for the good news. I decided to enter the Design Star contest at ScrapMatters a few weeks ago. I have dabbled a bit in designing over the past year, but haven't really had the time to commit to it. However, with two kids in school and only one at home I now have more time on my hands to dabble in designing again. So I decided to give it a go. I MADE IT TO ROUND TWO!!! I am still in shock. I can't believe it. This was seriously one of the first times in my life where I didn't stress over something. Usually I worry about every detail. This time I turned in my mini kit and knew that I had done my very best and it was out of my hands. I was grateful for that feeling. So we will see what comes next - hopefully I can continue on to become an apprentice designer at ScrapMatters!!! If you want to download it and see all the other 90 entries you can still get them until Friday (US Friday that is) but you have to be registered at ScrapMatters to view and download them. Sorry it has been so long. We went on a long awaited trip to New Zealand and I have spent a lot of time planning and researching before we went. It was amazing!!! What a beautiful place!!!

I am so sad to announce that JenLin Designs is retiring from designing. She is having a baby this year and needs to focus on her family - which is totally understandable. However, I am so sad because I only got to be part of her CT for a few months. Her stuff is fabulous and it is all on sale for a huge steal. BLESSINGS PROJECT

So I got the idea of doing a blessings project from my friend Britt. She did it last year and I vowed that I would do the project this year. I had to start at the beginning because well I am anal and the beginning of the year is a good starting point. Anyway. Here is my first page. Of course I am so blessed to have my hubbie. I am blessed because he decided to pick me and even after I told him that I didn't feel that way he stuck around and things turned out the way they should have. So here is my LO credits here

Sorry, for the few of you who actually read this blog, that I have been MIA for a while. I took a trip back to the States with the baby to visit family for a few weeks in October. Then after being back for only three weeks we got the news that my grandmother had passed away. Luckily for us it is in my husband's contract that they will pay for the trip home for the death of an immediate family member - so off we went again 24 hours after getting the call from my mom we were on our way to the airport. It was crazy, but we all got to go and we stayed for Thanksgiving so that was awesome.

Anyway, I have been back for a week now and am trying to get back into the groove. I have been doing some LO for the designers I CT for and I am also hosting the Saturday Special, Dec 6th, edition at SM. It is all about the rule of thirds being used in your LO. check it out here Here is the LO I did for it using JenLin Designs A winter's memory kit (found in her winter's grab bag), her date tags, and her alpha (you can get it all at ScrapMatters)

Here are a few LOs I have done recently. It is a bit tricky as most of the designers are creating magical winter kits and we don't get snow here - but I have tried to make it work anyway.

These two are made with JenLin Designs Holiday sprinkles kit found in her winter grab bag - seriously the most awesome grab bag with tons of goodies - check it out you can get it for one more week for only $3.00. This one was for Simply Sweet Designs - I just got onto her CT a few weeks ago and I am super excited. She has some fun and amazing designs! This was with her Sugar Plum Forest kit

While we were home my SIL took some family photos for us. I used Jeni Hopewell's Wonderfall kit and extra alpha. I just love those swirly stitches and the rich, warm fall colors.

Welcome to stop #8 in spring-like Sydney, Australia!!! I am hoping that my timed post worked - otherwise you will have to wait to get this until I wake up in the morning. **Apparently it didn't - so sorry about that.****

So exciting that ScrapMatters is turning one. I found ScrapMatters within the first week that they opened shop. I was a baby in the digital world and quickly found a home there. The community has taught me so much and I have met so many wonderful people. I like to call ScrapMatters my home away from home.

I have the worst time of year for a birthday - December, and not just any part of December but the end of the month. As a child I always wanted to have my birthday in the summer and have a fun pool party or go to a park, you know something summery. Nope, usually with my birthday also came a snow storm and bundles of sweaters. My mom said that we could definitely celebrate my half birthday if I wanted to, but I had to give up my real birthday. For some reason I thought this might be strange, so I never took her up on the offer.

Well last year was different. It was our first year in Australia and because the seasons are different I got my summer birthday after all!!! We went to the beach, had a BBQ, and it was the most glorious birthday I have ever had. My little family went out of their way to make it a really special day. Here are a few pictures from my birthday in 2007 - a day I will cherish always!
